Exeter Holiday Parade Guidelines

Entry Deadline: Wednesday, November 2, 2011

NEW LAW - Under the new law, no vehicles with protruding wheels are allowed in parades unless the vehicle is suitably modified to protect both riders and pedestrians from the wheel assembly; at least one adult, other than the driver, must supervise children on a vehicle in a parade and have a way to communicate with the driver; and one adult would be required per every four children. Additionally, children riding on a vehicle must remain entirely within the vehicle's perimeter and if standing, must be protected if the vehicle suddenly starts or stops. Violators would be fined $50 for a first offense, $100 for a second or subsequent offense.

• Judging begins at 4:00PM, criteria will be posted later — www.exeterholidayparade.org

• Applicants assume all responsibility for any loss or damage in connection with their float entry at the Exeter Christmas Parade.

• The Parade Committee in conjunction with the Exeter Police Department reserve the right to cancel the parade for any reason - including inclement weather. An alternate parade date of Sunday, December 4th has already been established. Please check our website for any announcements on parade day.

• The Parade Committee reserves the right to disallow inappropriate entries.

• No alcoholic beverages will be allowed during the events.

• Unregistered entries will not be allowed to participate in the parade.

• Upon entering Osram, you'll receive a float number and a parade staging map. The float number is to be taped to the driver's side of the front windshield. The number identifies your line-up position at Osram, informs the judges who you are and assists the parade announcer at the bandstand.

• Participants on vehicles or walking MAY NOT THROW candy to people along the parade route. Candy must be handed out to the crowd.

• Distribution of brochures or literature for fundraising or promotional purposes is not allowed along the parade route.

• No float and/or vehicle is to be left unattended at any time while waiting for the parade to start.

• Scout Leaders, we need your help. Please carpool to Osram. The traffic volume at Osram is extremely heavy.

• Fire trucks will line up on Portsmouth Ave. just before the entrance to Osram.

• All Horse entries will line up at Wentworth Lumber, across from Osram.

• Remember, there is only one Santa Claus.
